Contrairement à l'idée reçue, ouvrir une fenêtre pendant 5 à 10 minutes seulement, de façon active (avec un petit courant d'air), permet de renouveler complètement l'air d'une pièce de 75 m3 (25 m2 de surface au sol, soit une pièce de 5 m sur 5 m de côté), sans refroidir la surface des murs.
L'intérêt est simple: remplacer l'air vicié par de l'air frais. Ce qui permet à ses occupants d'être dans un environnement de vie et/ou de travail adapté et sain.
